I Need Layout Help

The title says it all. I'm really desperate guys. Every time I try to change my layout it doesn't work. It doesn't matter what website I chose or which layout I pick, only the background color changes. I copy all codes where they're supposed to be. I make sure I save everything too. The only layouts that seem to work for me are the pre-made ones on the Mibba website. Can someone please help me? I'm not sure if this journal is against the rules or not but this journal will get deleted after I can get some help.
