No One Ever Tells You

No one ever tells you...
That growing up means giving in
It's not just making compromises or being the "bigger" person,
It's a whole lot of fun-sucking, earth-shattering, eat-a-whole-pint-of-ice cream-because-you're-so-depressed moments that come to make up your life.
No one ever tells you that.

No one ever tells you...
That your job will someday become the core of your social life.
Same people every day, same problems, and same ridiculous arguments.
You try to pull away from it, try to work less, go out more with better people.
But then you remember that going out costs money, and you need to work for money.
So you're trapped. You work more. You become more miserable
And join the rest of the working-class miserable people.
No one ever tells you that.

No one ever tells you...
That laughing becomes harder when you're older.
Comedy routines get repeated, pranks get less funny, and most of the time people will just annoy the piss out of you.
Pretty soon you just can't stand people anymore
Pretty soon you can't laugh, even if you wanted to.
No one ever tells you that.

But you know, there is one good thing that no one ever tells you.
There's 8 billion other people with exactly the same problems.
You are not alone.

Life sucks, it really does, but someday it will get better.
I know this, and I believe it, because of you.
Because out of those 8 billion people, you picked me.
And if those odds aren't something to believe in, I don't know what is.
No one ever tells you that, but that's a good thing.
That's life.
