can no one get a job or is it just me/happy mother's day

Lately I've been calling around to see who's hiring and who's not. Some places say they're hiring and then suddenly the next day they aren't hiring anymore. I've applied to so many places, made calls to make sure they received and looked over my app, and called again and then nothing. I really want a new job, but I swear no one will hire. My cousin just came back home from college and got a job as soon as she came back and she has no prior work experience and I've been applying everywhere for months and I have prior work experience. I feel like the world is against me.... Is anyone else having this problem or is it just me?

I know I'm trying hard not to give my mom any. She doesn't deserve it. :)
