True Christians

So yesterday my classmates presented their finals in photography class. One of the presentations was about labels, by Tracy, who is a 40-something year old mother returning back to college, and she is one of the most Christian women I know. One of her pictures was of a boy staring at the bathroom window, with the word “FAG” written on his face with lipstick.

She then told us that the boy was her son, that she always knew he would be gay when he grew up, that he came out to her a few years ago, and it didn’t matter to her at all. He volunteered to help her with her project, and the photo demonstrates his frustration about people who just randomly hate him, just because he happens to be gay.

I was so overcome when Tracy told us this. She is the first older Christian I’ve met who is so accepting, that her son isn’t afraid to hide anything from her and they can both talk about it proudly in public.
Wherever he is, Jesus must be proud.
