What Is Love?

Someone asked me that question today, and it really got me thinking about what it means to be in love. I think that people take love for granted, especially kids. I walk down the halls at my school, and I see people who just started “going out”, telling each other the three famous words. “I love you.” Kids these days don’t understand what those words mean. They think about the fun stuff about love; the kissing, dates, hot bodies, beautiful faces, the sex, etc. They don’t think about the commitment to those three words. “I love you.” It’s a commitment. It’s not about the kissing or sex. Love is holding her hand when she’s in labor, reminding him about the wonderful times you had after he’s diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease, sitting with them while they’re getting treatments for their cancer. Saying “I love you” is almost like saying “I care so much about you. I’m here for you, and I’m in this for the long run. Whenever you need me, I’ll come running.”
So, what is love? Love is special. A special bond, that shouldn’t die, or be replaced.
