Insomnia and Me

Alright so, I have a mild case of insomnia. Well, what used to be mild. But now I'm beginning to question just how bad it really is.

You see I've never slept well at night. I always sleep better in the day but with school and studies and everything that just really isn't appropriate. So instead I get to not sleep in the night apart from about 4 hours if I'm lucky then stay awake all day, maybe slipping in a nap when I get home.

It's the six weeks holidays at the moment so it's not too bad. I can sleep in the day. Although my Dad has a thing with waking me up before 12 whenever he can. But still, on average, I get about 6-9 hours sleep. Depending on how exhausted I am.

It doesn't make a difference as to whether or not I go to bed earlier or if I do some things to relax before bed. I still can't sleep. I can be drowsy as anything in the day time then as soon as it gets dark, bam, I'm wide awake. (Yay! -.- )

Anyway. Tonight is night three of my latest attack of insomnia. I haven't been able to sleep for more than 30-40 minutes before I wake up again which doesn't help at all. I'd prefer to get 4 hours of solid sleep then to wake up every few minutes for 9 hours. This constant waking up just makes me more tired. Which isn't at all practical.

Later today I'm either going to York or Matlock Bath. I've never been able to sleep in a car, I have to watch where we're going due to a paranoia that if something were to happen I would have to know certain checkpoints to get home. (Yeah I may be slightly crazy) But this trip out means I have to wake up at 8am to get ready. This isn't helpful.

It's currently 2:55am. Which means if I were to fall asleep right away now I would have 5 hours 5 minutes sleep. Not enough for most people but I can function without fault on 4 hours for about 3 days before it takes it's toll.

BUT DO NOT FEAR! My case usually ends up where I can't sleep for ages, until I completely wear myself out and then I sleep for about 12 hours, only for the cycle to start again. There was no point in this blog really. I just have nothing to do while I'm awake.

Want a tip?

If you have trouble sleeping try listening to classical music. I find these help:

Beethoven- Fur Elise
Debussy - Claire De Lune
Noturno- Chopin
Beethoven - Moonlight Sonata

But that's just me.

I shall leave you for tonight, although I will still be around.

I am so very tired.

Emily.
