I achieved a NaNoWriMo without realizing it and I'm not sure whether I should be proud or sad.

So, I was looking through the few documents I had been writing for the month of July, and I calculated I had written 55,679 words for the month of July. I always date my work when I open a document and start writing, so from the 1st to the 31st, that's how many words I had written in different stories. The bulk of the words were in one story, with some developing ones/shorter ones making up the other words. Even thought it wasn't all in one story, it was still over 50k words in a month.

I've never even come close to that with my original stories, and the reason why I'm having mixed feelings about it is because all the stories written were

Homestuck

fanfiction.

I find that a bit distressing.

I mean, the word count is an accomplishment, but the subject matter is, well...

I'm not saying fanfiction isn't "real writing", I'm just a little miffed I couldn't do that with my own original ideas.
