So, first off I would like to start off my saying that I am not Muslim but my boyfriend is. He has provided me a safe environment to explore his religion and branch out a bit.
Well, my friend Austin who is in love with me sort of blew up at me. Today I tried on my first hijab. While I am not Muslim I wanted to experience what it feels like to wear the Muslim headscarf you all have seen other Muslim ladies wearing. So I shared my secret joy with him through a text. He was not thrilled.
He could not understand that the hijab has always been a fascination for me and it upset me. He told me Islam oppresses women and how Islam is all about war.
On the other hand, I love my boyfriend and his family has shown me nothing but kindness and has welcomed me. My boyfriend is completely okay with me trying out the scarf.
I just never intended to hurt friendships.
