The Lyrics of this song scare me

OK it's no secret that I'm black and the song I'm talking about it pretty racial, but that's not the reason it scares me.

Have any of you ever heard of a song called strange fruit?

Well I know it's a song about how common it was to see black people hung back in the day, but the reason he song scares me is not because if race, it scares me because.

Well just think about it, take everything about race out of this song and think about how scary it would be to walk down the street and that no matter where you went you saw bodies hanging from the tree's and that it was so common that they were no longer referred to as bodies, but fruit.

Now as a horror fan this disturbs me to to actually be scared by something, but what do you think? Do the lyrics of this song scare you? What does it make you think about when you read it?

Southern trees bear a strange fruit,
Blood on the leaves and blood at the root,
Black bodies swinging in the southern breeze,
Strange fruit hanging from the poplar trees.

Pastoral scene of the gallant south,
The bulging eyes and the twisted mouth,
Scent of magnolias, sweet and fresh,
Then the sudden smell of burning flesh.

Here is fruit for the crows to pluck,
For the rain to gather, for the wind to suck,
For the sun to rot, for the trees to drop,
Here is a strange and bitter crop.
