Take Me Home Review (Including completely random gifs!)

My review on One Direction’s ‘Take Me Home’. ILY AUSTRALIA FOR EARLY RECEIVING. I’m not too sure why we got it first but I’ll just accept the fact it’s because we’re effing awesome. Alright. Moving on. Also, some of these gifs just don’t even relate. I put them in because they’re “damn sexy”.

1. Live While We’re Young Catchy, easy to dance to, our version of YOLO but when we ‘live while we’re young’ we’re sexing it up. Great way to open the album. 5/5

2. Kiss You I love this song, it has a solid beat and a great lil’ head bopper. A highlight is when Niall sings ‘Makin them drool down their chiney chin chins’. Nialler, why you so precious? 4.5/5

3. Little Things One of the few songs that show maturity from the boys. A nice and slow song to gush over. Ed Sheeran wrote some beaut lyrics and it’s so beautiful and relatable and wow I just love this song. The first time I saw the video of LT I squealed like a little fan girl because they looked and sounded so beautiful. When you watch LT being performed on the X Factor USA, watch Harry sing. You can tell it means something deeper to him, or at least that’s how I saw it. 5/5

4. C’mon C’mon This reminds me a little of Tell Me A Lie, I’m not too sure why though. It’s another one of their semi-dance songs, like you could dance but not necessarily fist bump to. It’s one of those songs that just grow on you after a few times of listening to. 3.5/5

5. Last First Kiss The song that Louis, Zayn and Liam co-wrote. The lyrics are quite sweet, with the boy wanting their girl to be their last first kiss. I can imagine some slow clapping in the background when they play it in their concert. I also really like this song. 3.5/5

6. Heart Attack This song is fun and light and when they go ‘oww’ in a MJ’esque fashion it’s admirable. 3/5

7. Rock Me I call it ‘Fuck Me’ in my head, because it basically means the same thing. I bet this was what Liam meant when he said that this album was more ‘mature’ than the last. Heheh. Perhaps it’s just me, but the chorus reminds me of the Jonas Brothers in their later albums, when they tried to go more pop. If you replace ‘Rock Me’ with ‘Fuck Me’ it makes the song more interesting, I think. 3/5

8. Change My Mind One of their slower songs. LOUIS STARTS THIS SONG GUYS. I love Zayn’s voice in this. But the whole song is lovely, it’s a good song to sway your arms to. 3.75/5

9. I Would. Written by McFly. One of my favourite songs, I love the guitar in the beginning. Out of all the songs, this song stuck in my mind the most. It’s so catchy and fun! The ‘L-O-V-E’ bit sung by Zayn is the best bit out of the whole song. 5/5

10. Over Again Another slow song. It’s cute, I can sense it’s another song that will eventually grow on me. 3/5

11. Back For You Another song co-written by the boys. There’s not much I can say about this song. I like it, but that’s all really. 2.75/5

12. They Don’t Know About Us I felt like this song was a reference to the 90’s boy band era and some cheesiness from Big Time Rush (I like BTR, btw). It takes me back, which I like. Nonetheless, I love the piano in the beginning and the overall feel to the song. One of my favourites. 4.75/5

13. Summer Love The last song on the album and another co-written track. It’s a great song to play when summer is ending and the sun is setting, when you listen to it you’ll know what I mean. 4/5

Extra Tracks

She’s Not Afraid – love love love this song. It’s so catchy and upbeat, much like most of their other songs. 5/5

Image Image

Loved You First – the first few seconds remind me of Titanic. I am not a fan of Titanic. And then the chorus is a bit 90’s-ish. Otherwise it’s not a bad song, I’d give it a 2.5/5

Nobody Compares – NIALL STARTS yeah! He has such a lovely voice, they should really use his voice more. Another fun song. 3.75/5

Still The One - Co-written by Harry, Liam and Louis. The lyrics are about regretting that they let someone go, I wonder if they’re speaking from experience? Perhaps not from Louis since he’s with El, but Liam and Danielle + Harry and …Caroline? Besides the speculation, this song is catchy and a cute song to let a girl know that she’s still important to the other guy. 4/5

Overall, I thought ‘Take Me Home’ was definitely a step-up from their first album, as it had more dancy and uplifting tracks. This album reminded the fans that Niall and Louis are actually in the band, and their increased solos proved that. But in terms of maturity, I thought they could have stepped it up a little. Otherwise, I defs recommend the album :)
