To Write or Not? That Is the Question

I'm very conflicted. My stories are generating a decent amount of readers and subscribers, but never many comments. They're kind of my motivation for writing; they let me know that people are liking my work. What can I do to get more comments? I consistently say that I'm open to suggestions, and I am, but I still get very few comments.
When I read other stories, I always notice how many comments and recs they have, which are usually big numbers, and I alway wonder what they do to get those number. What can I go to get more comments? I must know! I question if I should even continue my stories or not.
