My Dream. Your Joke.

What will it profit you to talk down someone’s dreams?

That which is true today may not always be.

Once upon a time, if you weren't studying the sciences, you weren't thought of as intelligent.

It had to be medicine or engineering or for the intelligent of the unintelligent, law.

Well, today, spend half the time, earn double the money. Who’s intelligent now?

The boys with whom, I wasn't allowed to play soccer or run the streets, now play in the premier league and

run the diamond league.

I was the posh kid in the hood, who’s driving a Porsche now?

How many people gave Tiger a shot in golf or the Williams a chance in tennis? Fast forward, records taken

apart, history erased, the future redefined.

Hip hop has always been my love, and like many other people of African descent, it was our thing. Eminem

is laughing loud now isn't he?

The world will never know a doctor Fela but somehow, the world will never forget the name Fela

Anikulapo Kuti through music.

Who would have thought that comedians will ever have a profile that won’t be a hit joke?

Of Lee Evans, Chris Rock and even Ali Baba, success just turned a new leaf.

Oprah woke up and started to talk on Television, we all know how that ended

Someone posted a tweet and his life changed forever.

These aren't just random examples, there are deep lessons embedded within.

Not every idea will be a hit, not every direction will be the path, and not everybody will be correct.

We owe it to the world to help others.

Don’t just crush an idea because you didn't think of it first, or because you think it’s not the best. While you

can offer advice on a better way to go, don’t take away the dreams that people bring your way. Help create

options.

Upgrade your listening skills, don’t shut your mouth then zone your mind out. More times than not, we learn

when we listen.

The beauty of the world is the play that ensues from its unpredictability
