top 10 favourite books: #10 My Sister Lives On The Mantelpiece (Annabel Pitcher)

I read this book a few years ago, and it certainly didn't disappoint.
It is is the story of a 10-year-old boy called Jamie who's older sister Rose died in a terrorist bombing when he 5. It has destroyed his family, his parents have broken up, his dad is an alcoholic and his sister (Rose's twin) is rebelling.
They move to the countryside where he befriends a Muslim girl called Sunya. The problem is that it was muslims that killed Jamie's sister all those years ago, and Jamie's dad is horrified, distraught and disgusted by the fact that his son is friends with her.

The story is about true friendship, family and growing up. 7/10
