Moving upwards?

After a while spent thinking, and trying, somewhat, to write an original story. I finally got a good idea, I don't know if it will go here, because it may take a while to get started (since I want to finish the stuff I'm doing & I'll be back at college before I know it). Either way, whenever I find time between things, I may write bits and hopefully expand.
I've always wanted to be an actual author, maybe this could be the idea that breaks through for me. I kinda hope so, I'm not saying I expect it too. But this is the first good idea I've had in a while, and I'm kinda excited to write it, get started. If I get enough, maybe I'll send it off, see if anyone would be willing to get it published once it's done.
I also figured, it will be a mini-series, only two books. I kinda hope this works, and if not, at least I'll have it to upload anywhere I want, at any time. :D
