7 Reasons to Love Writing

I often take being able to write for granted, but after starting my first year of teaching and realizing how much of our youth simply cannot write, I've come to appreciate it more.

1. Writing is an escape. It can take you away when you need it most.

2. You can create anything you want. There are no limits. None. If you can think it, you can write it.

3. Your characters are your friends. You can get so deep into a character that it feels like you know them.

4. Writing gives a feeling of accomplishment. Whether you finish one paragraph or an entire book, there's a satisfying feeling when you get something written down.

5. Writing creates a community. Writers understand one another in ways that no one else can, and that creates a bond unlike any other.

6. Writing creates dreamers. The more you write, the more you think about your writing, which will lead to more dreaming - whether it's about your writing or not.

7. Writing is one thing that no one can ever take away from you. Ever. Your writing is yours and nothing could ever change that. You will always be a writer. Always.
