When Your Name is the Same as the Protagonist...

...and you just can't get in to the story?

I've come across some fics, fanfiction and original fiction, where the lead character has the same name as me. And I have a hard time reading it because I just see my name and go "Wha?"

It just feels weird to me, reading a story with my name plastered all over it. I tend to avoid stories with my name in it because of that. And because I start thinking it is me that is doing all of those things (not in reality, but like a self-insert sort of story). Then I start nick-picking the story about how I wouldn't do that or I would do something different.

It just gets out of hand.

And I am not saying that the stories were bad or unreadable, but I had to consciously put effort into reading it. And after a point I just couldn't read any more.

Anyone else have problems reading stories, where the main character or protagonist has your name?

Or am I the only one? XD
