Electricity

Earlier this week I was sort of watching TV. It was an unproductive day where I just sat around doing nothing.
As I changed the channels I found one of those series called ‘Revolution’. It’s about how the world would function without electricity. Well, not the world, just America, because in every movie or TV series there’s never any trouble in Europe.
But that one episode that I saw made me think about what the world would actually look like without any electricity.
My first thought was ‘Alright, I don’t really need my cell phone’. And as I thought a little deeper I realised that my laptop runs on electricity, my entrance gate does, my car needs electricity to get gasoline etc. I wouldn’t be able to take a shower because there will be no running water. I would even need to buy another toothbrush. There would be no fridges anymore, no French fries and no pizza delivery.
Oh yes, healthcare, the lack of electricity would cause some problems for that as well.

So, you can conclude that we would be fucked without electricity and it’s frightening to know how dependent we are on this. From now on, I will thank the god of electricity every night on my bare knees.
