Are my characters cliched?

In my story Songbird I'd like some input on the main characters. I'll put a small description of them here.

The first character is Elijah who's around 15 years old. His personality could be described as cold. He isn't exactly mean but he doesn't really like being around others. He likes to spend time with certain people but it will take him a while to actually like those certain people. Although he doesn't really like people he is a great helper.

The 2nd main character is named Sage. He's about 14. He's very optimistic and extroverted. He likes meeting new people. Sage is very sensitive and can break very easily. But he's good at hiding negative emotions. He attaches to people very quickly and will be a loyal friend to them for a long time. If a friendship has ended he'll be devastated.
