Writing and Motivation

I don't know how people do it, how you can have the motivation to just keep writing one thing, consistently, until it's finished. Because I can't. I've started so many stories and never finished them even though I had the whole plot and events completely detailed, the only thing left to do was writing the actual story.

I get burnt out too easily. I get excited and enthusiastic about something for a month or so at a time and then just give up on it. The interest is always fleeting, and I hate that. I wish it wasn't suddenly a chore to finish something I so willingly and lovingly worked on.

Same with Mibba, I'm here every day all the time for a few months or so and then I just don't log on for a long time. I feel like I'm being lazy, honestly.

How do you guys do it? How do you keep writing stories that are 30+ chapters in length or all the way to the end without seeming to lose interest? Because I'd love to be able to. I have a fanfiction I really should be updating, and really want to finish because I'm proud of it and I want to see it do things as a story, but I just... can't.
