Do Layouts Matter?

Honestly, I ask myself this question a lot of times when I read stories here in Mibba. Since I'm being honest, I should also mention that sometimes layouts do matter to me when I'm reading someone's story.

I know, that's really really bad because it's basically judging a book by its cover.

I can't help it, though. It's not that I don't like the layouts, it's just that sometimes it gets to the point where it's uncomfortable to read the story with that color of font or that color of background. Meanwhile, I really am interested in the story itself and I really do want to read it, so sometimes I prefer to go to the mobile site and read it there. I'd much rather read a story with a clean black and white layout in a proper content width than the ones with crazy colours. Am I expressing this right? I really don't wanna offend anyone, I swear, because this is not directed to anyone specifically.

For my own stories though, I guess it's just because I personally like making layouts so I kinda put my thoughts into it and try to match it with the atmosphere of the story itself.

I don't know, do layouts matter to you guys?
