On the Topic of Feminism.

I don't consider myself a feminist and I don't consider ever becoming a feminist. But that doesn't mean I want women to be completely neglected and men to have power and all that. Onononono, I'm all for equal rights.

But Gabbe, that's what feminism is about.

No. At least, not what I've seen with modern day feminism/third wave feminism. Just because it's written in the dictionary like that doesn't mean people abide by that definition. It's the same with the word literally. Omg I LITERALLY died. See? From what I've seen, modern day feminism is mostly whiny brats complaining about how they got whistled at (okay, that's exaggerated, I admit).

But not all feminists are like that.

I acknowledge that. There are some chill feminists, and just because someone is a feminist doesn't mean I'll think any less of them. But you have to admit that when people mention feminism all the attention goes to radfems because radfems have the most control and authority in the movement. It's basically judging a book by it's cover. That's how life works.

Now onto my personal experiences.

I have never been wronged by a man. I have never been mistreated by a man because of my gender. My gender has never stopped me from accomplishing anything. I've probably had a lot more privileges because I'm female. I have, however:

+ Almost been kidnapped twice, courtesy of females
+ Been bullied by exclusively females
+ Been verbally harassed by females
+ Stalked by different women on multiple occasions
+ Been physically injured (cut with a knife, to be specific) by girls
+ Been in physical fights with girls (I've never started a fight, though - too much trouble u feel)
+ A girl once forced herself onto me idk if that counts as sexual assault or what but idc it's ages ago

So, to be honest, I'm more wary around women then I am men. Women are the people who make me feel uncomfortable. Women are the people that make me feel like I have no choice. I'm completely and utterly relaxed around men.

I've been catcalled before. I don't find it offensive. I don't sit on it. Why? Because if I ignore them they'll eventually drive off, I'll walk away and never see them again maybe.

I don't get upset about little things like science toys being in the 'boys section' as well. Like, a) it's a toy and b) you can literally just walk over there and grab it and leave like jesus christ I have seen so many people complain about that one lil thing oh my God.

I've seen 'feminists' complain about things like 'male sports' and 'female sports'. Now, I'm currently shooting as a sport. Today, one of the range officers came up to me and said we don't really get female shooters; they're too scared. Did I take offence by that? No. Wanna know why? Because as much as my feminist friends and relatives go on and on about 'female sports' and 'male sports', whenever I ask would you do a 'male sport' they say no, because it's too dangerous. And let's face it, I don't see a lot of females shooting, especially not the type of shooting I do. It's muddy and it's challenging and it's life threatening. The RO went on to say make sure you become world champion so the guys will complain about being beaten by a girl.

Another thing I see being complained about is showing shoulders and wearing skirts in American schools? I can't really speak for myself because we all wear a uniform here, so that sucks, but I honestly don't see the point in complaining about that? Like, a) it's school why u gettin' all dressed up, and b) I can see why it's inappropriate. It's a school, a place for education, not a fashion show. There's also a danger factor involved, too.

And don't even get me started on the body hair removal/free bleeding. I've been asked by a radfem at my school why I conform to the patriarchy and shave, and I was like

What patriarchy?

But also, I shave because most body hair is disgusting, not just on women but on guys. Like, there is hair growing out of your armpits no that's gross pls don't. But just because someone doesn't shave doesn't mean I'll go and complain to them like it's their body I'll just walk away and not look back.

And don't even get me started on free bleeding because jesus christ that is absolutely disgusting and I just cannot comprehend why people want to just bleed all over their clothes like gross no. I will never understand the point in free bleeding.

And regarding the wage gap myth, I don't believe it exists. I'll get into that some other time I guess (because I'm too lazy to whip out statistics u feel), but whenever someone tries to debate with me over it, they always talk about celebrities. Comparing stars like Angelina Jolie to fucking Nicolas Cage. It's so much more than having the same job title. Years experience, age, popularity, performance, risk factor. They all come into the spectrum.

Anyway, I think I'm done because I'm just rambling here and there. I really don't care about feminism but I do think that everyone should be treated equal. I just find it stupid how there are people complaining about catcalling where there are women having acid thrown on them and being shot and being confined and shit in other countries ????? Idk.
