Obviously, not everyone is going to be supportive of your writing. Of all the people you know, there is bound to be someone who is not supportive of your writing, whether it is as a hobby or a career.
How do you deal with unsupportive people? I think it's easy to say just ignore them, but that can be hard if it's someone you really care about or if they're really persistent about it. Sometimes it really takes a toll to get that sort of criticism all the time.
I don't have anyone in my personal life that is this way, but I have met a few people online that are like that. Those people are easy to ignore though.
