Things That Stay

I was tagged by Blissed Out to complete the Things That Stay tag! Basically, I have to pick four books that have resonated with me. It's really hard to pick just four, so I'm just going to go with the first four I think of. The reasons are actually kind of weird and random, but hey, what can you do?

One: Frankenstein by Mary Shelley

Mary Shelley was way before her time when it came to this novel. Everything about it is just perfection, from its creation to the book itself. I still remember reading this for the first time in high school. I fell in love with it then and have read it a few more times since then. It's such a wonderful book. If you haven't read it yet, I highly recommend it.

Two: Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep by Phillip Dick

This is the first book I ever taught to a class all the way through, so it holds a special place in my heart. I got to be there from the time the book was assigned until we got to the very end, and going through that experience with my students (I was student teaching at the time) was one of the best experiences I've ever had. I can't think about this book without getting a little teary-eyed.

Three: Uglies by Scott Westerfield

I picked this book simply because it was the first science fiction series I read. It's always one of the first books that comes to my mind when I think of my love of reading. Looking back, the book wasn't really that great, but I read it at a time in my life when I was very impressionable, so I think that's why it has resonated with me so much.

Four: The Giver by Lois Lowry

I absolutely had to pick this book. The Giver was the first "big kid" book I ever read, and I remember feeling so grown up when I read it. I haven't read it since then, so I have no idea what I'd think of it now, but back then I loved it. I loved the world. I loved the characters. I loved reading it. I loved everything about it.

And now, I tag louis tomlinson., kim wonshik. and unapalomayunaflor.
