18 vs. 46

I work in a deli, and at times its the most stressful thing in my life. But then there's days where everything is going wrong, the deli is a disaster, and there's too much commotion to get a single thing done all at once... and it doesn't stress me out in the least.

So today was one of those days, and my co-worker asks me why I've been able to keep so calm during such a horrible day. This was a rare moment of free time I was using to restock some of the packaged meats we used. I looked at her and just told her it was because the rush didn't bother me and everything would get done some how.

"It's because you don't care, isn't it?" she asked me. Not in a mean way, she's one of my favorites. The way she was asking was just pure curiosity.

No, I do care. But even if my little deli is in shambles, I've got enough real life problems to worry about, and a bad night at work isn't something I'm going to let stress me out.

In similar wording I explained this concept to her, and she said that's the wisest thing she's heard from someone my age.
