Respect.

Hi. Sooo I haven't posted a blog in awhile because life happens and yeah.....I got busy with things. I do want to tell you something, though. If you're a writer/author and you write fan fiction, don't let anyone make you feel like your story is "not good."

I know you or maybe one of your stories have possibly been pushed into a category by someone else in the past. Whether you're writing an over used plot or even using cliche scenes or having your characters do triggering things.

There will be people who try to dump off on those things and say they make a fan fiction so called "awful." But you know....you just have to sit back and be the bigger person who doesn't take that shit personally. There are a few reasons why

Just because someone else says those things make a story "bad" doesn't mean it necessarily is. I mean, it might be bad by their definition but that's the key word here. Their.

Now I know we've all come across things in stories that either irks us personally or that we feel has been overdone a trillion times. I'd still never stoop to tell the author flat out that their story sucks. I don't feel that's very respectful. Honestly, even if a story bores me cause it's not what I'm directly interested in, I still give it a fair chance.

If their story has grammar problems or if something is off, I might tell them about it in a polite way. But never disrespectful. Honestly, when I come across a cliche story thats plot has been overdone, I still will appreciate the fact the author wrote something at all. Anytime spent writing can't be a waste. I'd rather people sit home and write fan fictions with predictable plots or what other people call "horrible" fan fictions than them be out shooting up drugs, risking their lives or throwing their lives away.

Writing for a lot of people is an outlet or way to vent. It's therapeutic and people count on it for an emotional release. I guess as an author myself, I just kind of feel like....Who am I to judge what someone else wrote unless it be in an uplifting way.

I'm not saying only comment someone's work with praise. I do believe in constructive criticism as long as it's presented in a civil manner. I just personally think it's controversial to place people and their stories into a category of negativity just because the content of those stories didn't meet up to your personal writing standards.

Didn't mean this to sound rude. I just get discouraged seeing so many people diss other people's stories, even if it's in a generalized way.
