Takis?

Okay, I have come to Mibba to do a bit of an investigation. All of my students are obsessed with these chips called Takis (photo below). I have never seen or heard of these chips before this year, so I'm trying to figure this whole thing out.

Is this a new chip trend that is just starting or am I so old that these have always been a thing and I'm just now noticing it? Is this only a thing at my school? In my city? In my state? In the US? Do other people eat these things or is it just high school students in my city?

One of my students let me try one and they're not bad. They're like a spicy sort of lime tasting chip? It was definitely a weird experience.
