What's Christmas Like in New York?

I know Christmas is a big deal for New York, and I was wondering what it's like. I want to be able to describe it in my story. I've never been to New York for Christmas, so that's why I thought I would ask you guys. I know the streets are usually lined with white lights, which I have already mentioned. I just need more to go by. I want to describe what the character sees during the holiday outside the apartment window where she lives.

So, does anyone know how I can explain it? It's kind of hard since I've never been there... as I mentioned before. :( I've explained it before in other stories, but I just can't seem to do it with this one for some strange reason. Maybe I'll look at pictures of New York during Christmas in the mean time. *shrug*
