The First Time Pt 1 // The True Story

I still remember the day we met.
I had been walking outside my workplace with a few of my co-workers after a long shift. We were awaiting a night out on the town for a few drinks to wash down the stress of the afternoon dinner rush.
I laughed and joked around with my friends as we waited for my best friends boyfriend to arrive to join us before we left the parking lot.
Poking fun at each other and dancing around, I almost missed the initial look as he got out of his truck and walked up.
I remember his tall, fit frame, and his broad shoulders. The way his plaid button up shirt hung down his long torso, and how his brown hair coiffed perfectly on top of his head. He walked up to us beside the boyfriend we were waiting for, with one hand in his pocket and the other swinging beside him.
His smile was indescribable.
I could feel my heart pounding in my chest as I quickly searched for something else to stare at. I rushed over to my friend Steph, begging for her to talk to me about something--anything to get myself distracted. I looked up to see the man introducing himself to each of my friends. It was obvious that he was extremely likable as each of my friends laughed at some joke he said. His charisma was hard to ignore. I couldn't help but notice his eyes continually fall upon mine after every greet. My attempt at being invisible was clearly defeated since he stared right back at me. My breath quickened as I realized I had to make my move.
I slowly walked over to him as he smiled and walked towards me.
"Wow" I heard him mutter under his breath.
Let me just say that I have never considered myself any hotter than your average Jane. With my long brown hair and big brown eyes, small body and mediocre fashion trendy clothes, I never thought of myself as the stand out of the crowd type of gal.
Although, in that moment... in that very moment with him looking down at me with gleaming eyes and an excited smile - I felt like the hottest, sexiest, most beautiful girl in town.
"Hey" I giggled putting out my hand. And there it was, the first handshake. His hands engulfed my own as we stared at each others eyes.

I could hear my friends beside me snicker and giggle beside us as they could clearly sense what was going on. What was going on? I barely knew but I did not want to stop this moment. He was hot, he was attractive, and he was clearly not scared of saying what was on his mind.

We left the parking lot in search of a bar. All of us taking separate cars and I could not get my mind off of his eyes on me. My friends laughed behind me in the back seats about how much that guy wanted me.
I laughed back denying every accusation. Maybe I wanted to deny it because I didn't want to jinx it.. or maybe because I couldn't believe that someone who looked like that would pick someone like me out of all my friends. I was surrounded by girls of different beauty types. Skinny blue eyed blonde, long haired exotic babe, a tattooed brunette with red lips, and he chose to stare at me.
I couldn't get to the bar fast enough.

When we got to the bar, we quickly walked over to the booth where the boys had waited for us. There he was waiting patiently in the middle. As he saw me walk over, he leaned over the table and clasped his hands together and smiled.
I felt my heart speed up again.
"Here you go." My guy friend moved out of the way to let me slide my way in beside my new friend.
"Hey again" He smiled at me. I bit my lip and looked down at my hands. "Oh, you're nervous" He laughed taking a swig out of the beer that was in front of him.
"No, I'm perfectly fine.. are you?" I answered.
He laughed. "I don't know, my palms are a little clammy now"
"Gross"
The waitress came up and asked us ladies for a round of drinks. He made it initially clear that my drink was going on his tab.
"You didn't have to do that" I smiled. He smiled. He has a great smile.
We spent the rest of the night talking. I learned that he was from an even smaller town outside of my small town. He was a farm boy that lived in a house in the middle of acres and acres of land accompanied by a giant barn. He was a humble boy with confidence. It was clear that he knew how funny and likable he was but still accepted the fact that he was brought up in humble beginnings. He had a big family that he loved very much and lived at home while paying for college.
He was young. So was I.
He spent the rest of the night talking to me about space and the unlimited possibilities that are out there. I laughed at himself apologizing for talking my ear off. I felt like it was charming to be concerned with how much he was talking. I didn't want him to stop.
As the night let up and friends started leaving, I realized it was clear that the night was coming to an end.
"Is it okay if I grabbed your number?" He asked.
I couldn't help but smile. I slowly told every number to make sure he didn't get a digit wrong.
"I don't usually give out my number you know. Not the right one anyways" I joked.
"I hope I'm a special one then" He said smiling up at me.
And that was when I knew. This was the first time we met but there were to come many more firsts with this special boy.

Hey everyone :) thank you so much for reading my first entry. I'm hoping to write many more! I'm writing a novel as we speak called "The First Time" which is a version of this true story.
This is not just a boy meets girl story. There is so much more to it than that. There are plenty of firsts in every single relationship and that could mean a lot of things. I hope that many of you can relate and because of that, I hope to keep writing so maybe we can all grow together.

I want to come up with a fake name for this man.. I'm sort of stuck so if you have any ideas, don't be shy!
ps please let me know what you think so far. I am very open to constructive criticism.
Thank you again !
