Dear Diary: Day 08 | Stress

What’s stressing you out in your life right now?

Warning: This is basically me complaining and probably not making any sense.

I could easily answer this question with one word: school. Unfortunately, that can't be the end of this blog, so allow me to explain what I mean by school because I don't just mean school, school; when I say school, I actually mean science, as in, the two sciences that I'm forced to take in order to graduate this semester.

I still don't understand why taking two sciences (and a lab, gag) is a requirement for graduation. Yeah, people say it's because Liberal Arts degrees are typically general courses or pre-reqs for specific courses for intended majors, but here's the thing: I do not intend to use science in my future whatsoever. This basically means I'm taking classes that have no use for me. I have to pass these classes that have no worth to me or else I can't graduate. People who intend to go into the sciences usually start their college careers in the science major. Not many of them start of in Liberals and suddenly switch over, so again, why is science mandatory when something like history isn't? Let's be real here, I'd much rather take two (three if we're counting that stupid three hour lab) history courses over one science on any given day.

I'm pretty stressed about these classes because they are what separates me from graduating or not, and they won't even be of use to me! I have to sit in a class I don't care about and learn material that has no relevance or meaning to me. It isn't easy to retain information that has no importance to me or impact on my future, and it's not like I can force myself to care because I can't.

School is stressful enough on its own, but when you toss in useless or uninteresting classes, it only gets worse.
