How to Write Childish/Child-Like Characters?

I know children often have a sense of wonder and like to ask many questions. I'm asking because I have two characters who are childish/child-like. I want to be able to separate different traits for each of them too. Like, I don't want them both to be full of wonder. I also don't want to just give them interests that are childish/child-like either. I want to make them seem that way because of their different, varying special needs. I've always had a hard time with this, and this time it's pretty crucial that I understand the different traits of those who are childish/child-like. The love interest is actually more childish/child-like than the main character, but I want them to balance each other out.

Just to be clear, I'm not making the generalization that all disabled people are childish/child-like. I only fee like it would best suite the two characters in my story. Thought I'd clear that up. :3 Also, I'm actually very childish/child-like in many ways. I have special needs myself at the very same time.
