Help Me Understand How

Has anyone else see this book pyramid scheme? I keep on getting invited to it by friends who know that I read and I cannot for the life of me figure out HOW this is supposed to work. I'm no Katherine Johnson, but I do have basic math skills and I just CANNOT see how being in a group with 6 people, sending out 1 book each, will leave me with 36 books.

This is what the 'invite' says:

I'm looking for six (or more) people to be a part of a book exchange. You can be anywhere in the world -- the further the better. All you have to do is buy one copy of your favorite book and send it to a stranger. It doesn't have to be in brand new condition, a cheap copy from Amazon will do.

In return, you'll receive up to 36 books for your personal collection to KEEP. They'll be favorite novels from strangers around the world, which is pretty cool!

HOW, SWAY?

DO YOU HAVE THE ANSWERS?

It's impossible! I know. But I have legitimate friends that are legitimately sending this to me and I don't know what's going on.

Has anyone else heard of this thing?
