Sense of Style?

My boyfriend and I have been dating for 4 months now (yay). As unimpressive as it sounds, he's my best friend.
Yesterday I had my hair up in a bun with a little piece of my bangs hanging out, and he said it wasn't very 'me'.
"I'm not saying it looks bad, its just not you."
I never thought i had any style honestly, so I was curious enough to see what he meany.
I asked what he thinks my style and he said a bit grunge.
I definitely have those days, but in my opinion it certainly is not often enough to say that's my style.
Its odd how everyone has an idea of your style but you sometimes. I'm sure my best friend would disagree with my boyfriend and say that i'm not just grunge.
I just think i'm me, but the rest of the world can't see 'just you'.
I wonder if we compared how everyone who knows me sees me how similar their ideas would be.
I'm fairly certain my mom doesn't think i'm grunge.
Just something that occurred to me.
