To Accompany Amaranthine

Hi all!

This is a short explanation blog to accompany my one-shot, Amaranthine.

It's a monster of a one-shot, with a total of 4,493 words. (According to my word document!) And there's plenty in it I wanted to explain for anyone who read it and wanted some information.

T R A N S L A T I O N S :

I did my research online for these translations, but I can't vouch for the accuracy of them, sorry!

Ancient Egyptian
Em hotep -- in peace (often used as a greeting).
Dua Netjer en etj - thank you (literally "thank God for you").
Nebet-i, Netjer-i - My Lady, My Goddess.
Eibata - slave, servant.

Latin
Carissimus – dearest.
Aeternus amor meus – my eternal love (emphasis on eternal)

H I S T O R Y :

I've tried to keep the start of this story as historically accurate as possible.

Historians believe the Egyptians created their first warships circa 3000BC. I looked at a place called Rosetta (as in Rosetta stone), which was historically known as Khito during the Menes era (an era which is regarded to be also approx 3000BC). Khito/Rosetta is situated very close to the coast of the Mediterranean sea, and about 65km from Alexandria. So this is where Constance emerged.

Kaupangen = Trondheim, Norway.

Crinolines were first used in British fashion in the 1800's, according to Wikipedia.

I N S P I R A T I O N :

This one shot was for a competition but it got waaaaay out of hand. It's inspired by the song Dark Bloom by Amber Run.

When I listened to the song Dark Bloom, I was inspired to think about a beautiful woman who was dangerous in some way. And the lines “Step out into the blue, I’m invited by you” made me think of the sea. So I wanted to play with the idea of a Siren who embodies the sea. She calls to humans the way that the sea does, with its mystery and beauty. And she devours them because the sea is hungry and without mercy, it kills many sailors without malice—just because it is. She is my dark bloom, and Azrael is the one who worships her.

Any questions and I am happy to answer them!

Much love.
