Writing Again

For the first time in a long time I actually wrote something. A start of a story. I have no idea what it is, where it will go, if I'll even continue with trying to figure it out any, but it's a start.

I am my own worst critic when it comes to writing. Everything always seems to be subpar. I don't feel like I'm good at writing different characters, coming up with characters in general, or character development. I feel even worse about how I use descriptions. Not to mention my plots always just feel incredibly uninteresting/unoriginal.

I'm not saying any of that to gather some sort of support where you guys try to tell me that I'm a good writer, I'm just saying it.

But with this new injection of creativity I think I'm going to keep riding the proverbial train tonight and maybe come up with something to expand on. I've really missed writing.

On that note maybe you can offer some sort of advice.

What keeps you inspired?
How do you go about creating characters and keeping them from not all sounding the same?
What do you think constitutes a good story?
