Writing Tips Wanted

I want to expand my writing skills. I’m always writing in third person because I feel like when I try to do first person, I start writing what I’m thinking instead of what my characters are thinking. Does that make sense?

How do you all separate yourself in order to write as your characters?

I’m literally stuck because I want to start writing a new story but like it’s a story that needs to be in first person. I want my readers to walk into the world I’m trying to build and really read it through my character’s eyes.

Does anyone have any tips or resources that could help me out? I ordered a bunch of books last week that I know are in first person to kind of help me figure it out. It’s been WAY too long since I read an actual novel, like almost a full year.

I feel silly being 24 and asking for writing tips about this. Like, I feel like I should already be an expert at it because I’m older. But then again, when I first joined Mibba at I had received so many helpful tips that have shaped my writing technique and I’m just hoping we can all start doing that again. Thanks in advance guys, I’m really struggling lol
