Needing Some Advise

Hello everyone!

Okay this is a pretty serious topic that I need some help with. I have an older dog that I'm not sure how old he is. He's never been to the vet in his life but I'm training him to walk on a leash. He's not very stubborn but right now he is being stubborn because of a female dog of one of my neighbors. I'm not sure who the dog belongs to but she's in heat and he's already gotten into a fight with a German shepherd that left a hole in his stomach. It's not very deep wound just to let you know. If it had been any deeper I would have to call the vet to come out to my home...if they even would.

Anyways, he does better during the afternoons about listening and walking on the leash than he does in the morning. Would it be best if I kept him inside the house during the morning hours and only walk him in the afternoons or is there something else I should do? Please let me know. I really don't want my dog to be seriously injured if the German shepherd gets loose again.
