Hello everyone! I'm back with my second post for my blog challenge. This topic I've put a lot of thought into over the last week or so and most of it is just MY problems with social media versus popular belief though one or two may be pretty common.
Post Two: Five Problems With Social Media
1. Body Image. Social media has a way of influencing women, girls, men, and boys to feel that their bodies have to look a certain way in order to be "attractive". I hate how these young people are using these Instagram influencers as a basis of what they have to look like. Let's get real here, my 17 year-old stepsister has some body issues. Shes 5 foot and 115 pounds, shes tiny and looks healthy. She recently admitted to skipping meals because she wants to be skinny "like those sexy girls on insta". You cannot believe how angry I was. Not at her. NEVER at her but with this belief that these people are some sexy, godly beings.
2. Misinformation. Untrue information has a way of circulating social media like wildfire in dry brush. Doesn't matter what its about: politics, news, personal information. All of it is just a never ending spew of sewage clogging up the feeds of those of us who could really care less about the untrueness. And what bothers me most is people who don't research. Who blindly repost without trying to see the facts behind it. They see a headline: Trump Kicks A Basket Of Puppies! IS HE ANTI PETA? or Mark Zuckerberg Selling Out: His 500 BAZILLION DOLLAR DEAL!. Honestly, its sickening. AND ITS ALWAYS FROM UNRELIABLE RESOURCES TOO!
3. Updates. I really don't like when social media updates their formulas to make me see things they think I would rather see. You know what I want to see? Things in order. From the time they were posted and beyond. I dont care if I see Sally Sue's post first or if I'm seeing Billy Bob's post less because I don't like his posts as much. Guess what? Let me make those choices!
4. Fakeness. I cannot stand people who do a complete 180 on the internet. I can range from those people who post vague, pity me posts to get the "Aww, what happened? I'm here for you!" posts for the attention or even to the InstaFluencers/Celebs pictures that are photoshopped to oblivion and hardly recognizable. Like, realness doesn't exist.
5. The Mindlessness. I'm guilty of this one as is a lot of other people. Getting so absorbed into everyone else's life that you don't even pay attention. That we don't experience life except through screen of our phones.
