#81 - Beginner's Reflection(47) - Why Are We More Interested in Some People Than Others?

Welcome to my new chapter!

There are so many people around us, we are interested in some and not so much in others, have you ever wondered why we are more interested in some people than others?

You would say "People are different, some people have many interesting experience and are very funny", probably you are right, but the answer is too general, in this chapter, I am going to answer the question in a more clear and systematic way.

My plan is this:

First, I list some of the most important information about an individual.

And then rank the list in order of importance.

We need to note that we aren't interested in every aspect of an individual, we only are interested in very few aspects of this person.

Now, let's list some very important information about an individual:

. Appearance. It answers the question: How does this individual look like?

. Behavior. It is related to how this individual talk, how this individual respond and how this individual move, and so on.

. Personality. It answers the question: What traits does this individual possess?

. Career. It answers the question: What do this individual do for living?

. Location. It answers the question: Where is this individual living in?

. Experience. It answers the questions: What has this individual experienced? What has this individual been experiencing?

. Life goals and dreams. It answers the question: What does this individual want with her or his life?

. Talent. It answers the question: What does this individual do better than most of others?

. Relationship. It answers the question: Who is this individual related to?

Just remember, I only list some important aspects about an individual.

Next, let's see what aspects in the above list impact us to be interested in a person, I will give the following rank:

Experience > Talent > Personality > Appearance > Behavior > Relationship > Career > Life goals and dreams > Location.

No surprise I would say, a person's experience is the most attractive aspect of this person, for example, if this person saved many lives in a very bad natural disaster, we would be very interested in her or him.

For talent, we all love and admire people who are extremely good at something, such as singers, dancers, athletes and scientists.

About personality, we all love to be around with kind and funny people, we invite them to our home and our parties.

About appearance, honestly, we all are attracted to good-looking people, because they make us feel good.

About behavior, we love to observe other people, people who behave well will make us feel welcomed and happy.

Other aspects are less important to attract us than what I have mentioned, but still they are big parts of an individual.

We are not passive in deciding what aspects are important to interest us, our own inner state plays a big role too. For example, when we get bored, we want to hang out with funny people, and when we are in a romantic relationship, we care more about love and affection.

As writers, having the knowledge of why some people are more interesting than others would massively help us to build our characters in stories.
