what are you supposed to say ?

my friend told me the other day that her dad
was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer
around last week, after having surgery.

it's one of the deadliest cancers
because it has no symptoms,
so by the time you find it it's usually
already really developed. the
survival rate is a little under 5 %.
his is already at stage 3
meaning the cancer has spread
to the rest of his body.

what am i supposed to say ?
she's holding up really well.
she's gone through so much shit
in her life and now this. i feel
awful. the doctors basically told
her dad that he has 3 months to live.
she has 4 younger siblings.
her dad lives all alone because her
parents are divorced. i'm praying
for him every night because he's
such a great guy and it's so damn sad.

but i don't know what to do, as a friend.
help ? =[
