Avenged Sevenfold Taste Of Chaos

The stage is dark, but fog is coating the floor like a scene in a grave yard. And organ piano begins to fill the crowds ears and a shadow sitting in the middle of the stage with his back towards the crowd is playing this organ. More shadows come out as the organ continues to play, but then guitar riffs come into play, no lights just yet, but as soon as Critical Acclaim kicked off the whole stage lit up with bright lights, fire and mini fireworks around the Rev and his massive drum kit. Being a fan of the boys for seven years I have seen my fair of shows by them, all awesome, but this show, Avenged Sevenfold was the greatest show I've ever witnessed.

Waking up at five in the morning to make the hour trip to Denver was easy because I couldn't sleep much and my body just woke itself up with excitement and anticipation. I left my dorm and headed down getting stuck in a bit of morning traffic, but I got at the venue at 7:02 AM. I noticed a line already forming at the Filmore auditorium, but I was still like the fifth person in line. The cement was could on my ass as the morning was still chilly, but it was like a spring day compared to the harsh winter we get here in Colorado. As time passed by I began talking with some of the other girls there. One of them I recognized from an As I Lay Dying show I went to this last November, and she had been waiting here since four in the morning. I was sitting next to a set of blue doors littered in writing and pictures that I added too. I have to represent my boys, but one door starts to open and Matt Berry pokes his head out. I smile up at him and he shoots one back saying hi to me. It was that moment I knew this was going to be a great day. We all watch people unload shit and I became "best friends" with one of the roadies for watching his stuff and helping him by opening doors when his hands were full. I met a lot more roadies from Bullet For My Valentine and other bands. I began talking to the group behind me and we see the first tour bus start to roll in. Of course we wave and more buses start to come. Me and two other people had figured out which one was the Atreyu bus and waited outside of it. Long story short, I got to meet Alex. He was hungover and tired, but he still smiled for the camera and thanked us. Then we see the Berry brothers unloading stuff and the two people I were with were too chicken shit to ask if we could get a picture, so I shout out Jason's name and ask him if we could get a picture with him. Now this man is one goofy son of a bitch and jumped at the opportunity. Little shit knows that he was getting famous because of the DVD and basked in it, but it was cool because he was fun. Then I see Matty. I call his name and ask him the same, he smiles and says yeah but you could see him mutter 'what the fuck?' I'm proud to know I'm the cause of this. So I stand next to him and oh my fucking god. The man smelled SOOOO good. Like, you guys don't even know. I thought I died and went to heaven, but yeah. haha So after hours upon hours of waiting and making fun of all the people who were going to see the Japanese bands that were playing and me threatening the bone marrow donors by punching them in the back on their spine for cutting ahead of the rest of the line, I found myself front row and towards the right. The side that Syn plays on.

Now, some there were two stages and I was at the main stage. When the two Japanese bands played I seriously thought I was tripping on acid. Just think of Dance-Dance revolution with a hint of rock and then picture these mesmerizing lights that just blind you and these odd melodies that they were producing. I'm telling you all, it was a trip, but they were singing in Japanese and we didn't understand a single word they sang, so I made up my own words. I'm proud to say that I brought entertainment to the people around me.

Up next Bullet For My Valentine. The whole crowd chanting 'Bullet! Bullet!' I'll say this now, from that point on to the end of the whole show, you'll never be as close to people as I was there. When we would jump and shit, it was like an orgy dry humping. If one person moved, the whole crowd moved, and when Bullet came ragging on with "Scream, Aim, Fire." We all dry fucked like rabbits. This was also the point where my ribs began bruising, but we all moshed and some bastard got a black eye from me for trying to get to the front. I got Jay to notice me as I held my horns high and belt out the songs. I've seen them once before, but the show they put on was intense. My friend Cassie had to be pulled out because she's only 4' 11" and she was being literally crushed. Fun shit!

Atreyu was next. I've seen them only once too and they were shitty when I saw them, but the venue location was horrible, so I gave them another chance. Let's just say they proved themselves worthy and put on a kickass show. Alex tried to let me scream in his mike to 'Right Side of the Bed' , but the gap between us and the stage was too great. He still lingered on my side and kept eye contact with me. hehe

Now, the moment of truth, 'Sevenfold, Sevenfold!', chanted over and over. The come blazing on (Litterally) with Critical Acclaim, every kid singing with Shads, Second Heartbeat right after that. Fucking amazing. Matt starts talking and shit about this is the first stop of tour and there's some problems with equipment. Poor Zacky's mike didn't work for a bit, then Afterlife came on. The lights were fucking awesome with this song, then Matt had to stop again. Damn straight the altitude was getting to him! But then he was talking about how some of us were kicking back 40's in line. Proud to say I was one of them and he couldn't believe we were still standing. I didn't even have to hold onto the barrier because we were packed so tight. I was fucking floating! But then Beast and The Harlot came blaring through. I love that song. Simple. It was fun, it was at the end I chucked my Marlboro's at Syn, but he moved out of the way and before he could even notice what they were, the little shit known as Christ picked them up, waved at me with a smile and chucked them to a guy back stage to hold onto. OH! And he was his Mohawk back! hehe Then Shads told us that the next song is for the ladies "to shake your booties to". If I was a stripper, Scream would be my song. Amazing. Then Shads wanted Johnny to sing the opening line to Seize the Day and Zacky was bitching him out for doing it all the time. Johnny refused and offered Johnny's spot in the band. "If you can sing and play bass, you're hired!" Exact quote. hahah But then crazy beats and bongo's came pounding through and I soon found myself singing along to Brompton Cocktail. WOW! Words cannot describe that song live. Then Shads talked to us some more. He was asking if we knew the verse to this saying, "He who makes a beast out of himself…" The WHOLE crowd finished the saying and flames and more pyro and bombs set off. Fucking badass. Once again, he talked to us some more. He screams "I'M NOT INSANE!" We scream it back, he screams it to us, we scream it back. The opening riffs come in and then whole crowd it chanting "I'm not insane, I'm not insane" Especially when it comes to the part where he lets out the laugh. He just laugh as the crowd screams it to him. But I forgot to say in the beginning. To all the people who think he can't scream, fucking bullshit. The man was letting out vicious growls and banshee cries that even the greatest screamers in the world couldn't even match up to. It brought back some good memories, but damn. Man has lungs on him. Then Shads start talking about the troops overseas and how this next song is for them and for "The greatest country in the fucking world" Yeah, I'm proud of that shit. Fuck with my country or try to bash it and you find my foot shoved up your ass and my fist in your face, but a lone light shined on Matt as he sang Gunslinger. Before he actually started singing it, Syn was fucking around and just kept doing the same verse over and over. It was quite funny, but then the song exploded and MORE PYRO!! Fucking sweet! This is my absolute favorite song on the album, not only does it remind me of friends serving for their country, but it will be the first song I dance to in my wedding. The song ended and the pits fucked it up with Unholy Confessions, but then it ended. The stage was dark again but we fucking wanted more. Though it was planned the guys come back on. Matt starts talking again. He asks us, "You guys want fucking more? Even you fuckers in the front row that been drinking all day?" Of course we say yes. People around me, including me start screaming for Chapter Four, but matt starts talking again. He says, "Well, if we're going to do one more, then it's going to have to be a good one. Have you guys heard of "A Little Piece of Heaven?" We went ballistic! Crowd went nuts. I'm screaming my lungs off, and this song was the best fucking song of the whole night. Confetti was being shot out as we sing along. It was like one giant dance party, but this song was the best song I've ever seen live and they truly saved the best band, and best song for last. At the part where it goes "It's not your time, but bye bye." Yeah I waved bye bye at Syn and he just laughed. It was pretty cool. But greatest show ever.

When the crowd left, I found myself not being able to walk right and I didn't feel good at all. Cassie told me I was pale as fuck and couldn't believe I stayed in the pit the whole time, but we went our separate ways I went to the buses to see if they would come out. It was like 11:45 and because of waking up so early, dehydration, not eating all day and just the fact that it was the most intense show ever I couldn't wait for A7X to come out and I went home. I had an hour drive to my house and I could feel myself ready to pass out. It was scary, but I made it. But for those of you who are going to TOC be prepared for one hell of a fucking show because this was the greatest I've ever been to, and I've been to a lot in my 18 years of life. A7X put on a show that will now be forever the standard comparing the future shows I go to. It's worth all the bruises, the two cracked ribs I have from the barrier, my boobs swollen to the point where my bra won't even clasp in the back, and countless other injuries I have, but I wish A7X all the luck for the rest of the tour and tour with Iron Maiden.
