Rum City [MY hometown]

Well, seeing as a few people appear to be giving out little 'hometown truths' so that people can perfect stories set in them, I have decided to contribute with my own little hometown fact sheet. Admittedly, a story has never been written on mibba, or anywhere as far as I know, about this place that I (slightly begrudgingly) call home.

Bundaberg
[Also known as 'Bundy,' 'The Burg,' 'Rum City,' or 'Bundahole.' Or you could simply call it an overstated retirement home]

Some Interesting Facts About Bundy:

-We have the fourth highest level of 'hooning' incidents in Australia. (i.e. We have plenty of revheads who like to make convoys, parade around town, drag race, etc.)

-The whole Bert Hinkler thing. He lived here or something. He was one of the first aviators.

What there is to do for kids in Bundy

-Late Night Shopping at Hinkler
On Thursdays all most shops stay open late. The biggest shopping mall, Hinkler place, stays open till about 9, teenage fights abound and 'inconspicuous' plainclothes police officers lounge around hoping to get some fun.

-Beach
Most popularly, Bagara

-Skating

-movies

...yeah, thats about it.

Local Music

Consist mainly of Metal/screamo bands. Call them emo and they'll beat you with their peaceful straight-edged fists. They play occasional gigs at The PCYC (Police Citizens Youth Centre) known as AA Shifts.

Last Call
I like Toxic megacolon, but as far as I know, they've only played twice. The lead screams and it's like Woah.
I actually can't remember any others. They're that good.

oh and we have various hip-hop/DJ's floating around.

I'm not actually sure how many of those bands are born and bred bundy's...We get bands from Marybourgh and Harvey Bay come and play. I know Loe is.

Geography

Flat. Very Flat. as in, we have a 'mountain' called the hummock which is nothing more than an overgrown hill.

Other notes:

Bogans abound, thongs are much loved [as in shoes], and barbies are a wonderful excuse to get pissed on our good mate, Mr. Bundy Rum.
Oh and we grow lots of sugar.
Rum and Sugar.
Those are our exports. yay.
