I need some help. Character names.

Alright, so I need some help.

I need an older men's name preferably from the early 1900's, or even later, that isn't something like Alphonso or something along those lines. But sounds nice and would make a good protagonist's name. Preferably something from around the 1900-1910 era for this character.

I gone everywhere, baby name books and websites, asked my parents, my friends, I went on the government site and looked up popular names for certain years, but I can't find the one that fits perfectly, so I was wondering if guys could throw me some ideas.
