Rant and rave. [Plus a little bit of rage.]

So... just an opinion...
Is it ever okay to break up with a text message?
Because my boyfriend broke up with me through a text message yesterday. [It was only a three week relationship, but still, it really was stupid and hurtful.]
This is the main gist of the conversation.
Me: Why? [Asking why he felt different about stuff.]
Trent: Idk, that's the thing... I don't think this will work.
[And this was when I vented to my bestfriend, my best guy friend, my sister and my teddybear. Pissed much? Of course.]
Trent: Alex?
Trent: Hello?
Me: What do you want me to say?
Trent: Please don't be mad. You understand why, right?
Me: Not really, and definately not why in a text message.
[This was when I went to a show and raged hardcore while flirting with one of Trent's friends. Whore much? Yes, I was still pissed.]
[And this was when I thought he's get the point and wait to finish the conversation when I saw him next.]
Trent: Sorry, but I couldn't talk to you knowing I was going to be breaking up with you, and we were already texting, and I can't call you know.
Me: Whatever.
Trent: I'm really sorry, we'll still be friends, please? I didn't mean to hurt you.
Me: You didn't hurt me, you just made me mad that you didn't have the guts to tell me to my face.
Trent: Can we still be friends?
Me: Maybe, I don't think so, though.
[Insert really long break when I hope he got the point that I was pissed at him./b]]

So... this does have a point other than me complaining about my dickface ex.
Why do people always have to text message?
I've been asked out through them, hit on through them. Dumped through them. Been told something really important through them, the works.
But why something like this?

I wasn't upset [per say] about the breakup, but more mad at the fact he didn't have the courtesy to say it to my face.
What do you guys think?
