I just finished watching "Wristcutters". The story goes like this: a guy slits his wrists after breaking up with his girlfriend, only to find himself in a strange afterlife station reserved for people who have commited suicide. He learns that his girl also "offed herself" shortly after his death and is looking for him; and decides to embark on a roadtrip with his crazy Russian rocker friend to find her...
It's a hell of a movie, by the way; and it got me thinking about all those travel films i've seen which have given me in a "Kerouac" kind of thrill. They don't necessarily have to be ABOUT travelling; from the storyline to the stage direction, from the setting and soundtrack to the dialogues and characters, there's just something about those movies that makes you want to pack your bags and beat it.
Here's a list of my favorite ones:
Into The Wild
Zabriskie Point
Thelma and Louise
Easy Rider
Motorcycle Diaries
Wristcutters
