I would like to encourage you all to watch the above Youtube video. It will only take about three minutes of your time, and the video is worth it. This video documents the Free Hugs campaign. Basically, this started in Australia and was meant to reach out to people. The cops banned it several times (I don't know why) and after a petition signed by 10,000 people, it was finally able to begin again. If you know of it or not, I would still suggest watching it.
