While hiking with her mother and brother, nine-year-old Trisha strays from the path, for just a moment, to pee. After she's done, she makes one very, very bad decision, and that's to walk straight ahead instead of going back, thinking "I'm sure I'll meet the path soon". When she doesn't, she ends up getting lost, and deep in the forest something sinister may be following her.

I loved this book and can honestly say that it's the best book I've ever read. I never wanted to put it, honestly, and was crossed between relief and sadness when it had to end.
