Charlotte's Web by E.B.White
Wilbur the pig was born a runt, destined for the axe. But the farmer's daughter, Fern saves him, and they become inseparable. This story is humorous, and shows Fern and Wilbur growing together, and eventually apart. Wilbur is put into the barn, like a normal pig, who is to live a normal pig life. There Wilbur meets a spirder named Charlotte, who wants to change his tragic fate and make him great.
