Okay, I'm looking for a book. I`m a big fan of romance, but not too mushy such as Nora Roberts or something. I love Nicholas Sparks, but I`m not really looking for that kind of mush at this moment.

Also, I`ll take any kind of recommendations for books that you like in general. I`m a fan of historical fiction, romance, comedy, mystery. Heck, I like it all pretty much xD.

I don't know if you like the genre or if you've read it by Hermann Hesse's The Glass Bead Game is difficult to read, almost annoying because of the unrealistic dialogue, but you really fall in love with it if you read it again. Same goes for Umberto Eco's Foucault Pendulum, it's hard to read at first because he offers all these random bits of information about knights or secret societies or Cabala, but if you read it twice you get to enjoy both the actual plot and the knowledge baggage of the book.

Okay this isn't exactly a romance genre. It has elements of romance in it though. Its called "Moon Called" its by Patricia Briggs. Its a fantasy about Fae, Werewolves, Walkers and Vampires. It is absolutely amazing in my opinion and the main character Mercy Thompson is amazing!

Candy by Kevin Brooks is a new twist on romance. It's about drugs, gangs, and love. It's really good.

I'm looking for a good horror book. I'm about done the Cirque Du Freak books, and about to start The Demonata series, but I read REALLY fast so I'll probably be done in a month or two. Any good horror/scary vampires/gory book anyone recomends?

I haven't read this, but my friend is about to start reading it and she told me that it's pretty much horror and vampire gore. I think it was made into a movie last year. It's called 'Let The Right One In' by John Ajvide Lindqvist.

Here's the link to the wikipedia summary:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Let_the_Right_One_In

If you end up reading it, please let me know how it was. I'm interested to read it eventually.

Okay >.> here is a tough one. I want a Futuristic fantasy book. I find a good one very hard to find. I recall a good one that involved people from earth traveling to an underdeveloped planet and such. I don't really want a Star Trek type book. Mecha is nice if it isn't cheesy >.> Em...yeah. lol sorry if it's complicated.

If you want a really good comedy/romance, then check out Boy Meets Girl by Meg Cabot. It's a very clever book, kind of a "docu-story", but very funny and a brilliant piece of chick-lit.

If you want to read a really good comedy book, then you must try Molesworth by Geoffrey Williams and Ronald Searle. It is genius. It is quite hard to read at first (as it comes complete with awful spelling - on purpose) but as you get into it, it becomes a very amusing and witty book.

This is definitly a book worth checking out. It's called The Time Traveler's Wife, and it's probably my favorite book. The novel is about this man, Henry DeTamble, who has a one of a kind disorder that makes him travel through time against his will. As the summary states:

When Henry Meets Clare, he is twenty-eight and she is twenty. Henry has never met Clare before; Clare has known Henry since she was six.

It sounds confusing, but the author pulls it off and explains the concept so well and the plot is flawless. This is one of those amazing books you've never heard of, and it's a wonderful romance with a hugely powerful ending.

I really recc The Time Traveler's Wife too, my favourite book ever, it just blew me away, I've yet to find a book that has amazed as much as that one.

I'm looking for a really good book to read. My favourite book is, as I mentioned, The Time Traveler's wife, and my favourite author altogether is Jodi Picoult. I'm looking for something along the line of her books, but really, anything goes.

I've read all of Jodi Picoult's books, but she has a few being released over here soon that I havn't read, but until then I need something to keep me occupied!

My favourite of her books are:
    My Sister's Keeper
    Keeping Faith
Change Of Heart (Just read this in the last few days, it kept me awake at night and was pretty much all I could think about, I got that into it.)

I'd appreciate reccs for any time of book but I really like stories that deal with ethical/moral issues like Picoult's do. (Even if her books get a little far-fetched...)

    Thanks for any reccs!

Oh, if the stories are told in first-person, that's even better, but it dosen't matter if they're not. =D

Does anyone know any books where the main character is (God, I hate to label it likes this but) "Goth". I've been interested in "Goth" characters since I started reading Vampire Kisses. :tehe:
Ones I know of are: Oh My Goth! and Sweetblood.

Also, does anyone know of any books that take place at boarding schools?

The A Sweet and Terrible Beauty series by Libba Bray takes place in a boarding school during 1895 and deals with magic.
Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead takes place in a modern day vampire boarding school, the vampires aren't like Twilight vampires but they are different than traditional vampires.
The House of Night series by P. C. and Kristen Cast is another vampire boarding school with different vampires.
    YaoiRox666:
Mental institutions (I prefer YA ones, but I'll take adult as well)
    Impulse by Ellen Hopkins

Books that involve musicians and what it's like to be an artist.
Killing Yourself to Live by Chuck Klosterman might be like that. It's 85% of a true story about how Chuck went on a trip for Spin magazine to write about famous musicians deaths. It was really good and interesting.

    For romance:
Eva Ibbotson's books, they're also set in the early nineteen hundreds. The Morning Gift and A Song for Summer are during Hitler's reign, A Countess Below Stairs is after the fall of the Romanov rule, and A Company of Swans is during, I think, 1918.
Sarah Dessen's books, they're cliche but good to read.
P.S. I Love You by Cecilia Ahern.
