Is anyone else insane enough to do the wonderful, mad, evil sport that is rowing?
SO much effort... I love it though. I'm not sure if it's very big in other countries... but there's a fair amount here in the UK =)

Rowing, for those who aren't sure.

    Ya I row too...

I have one medal from all the regattas last year. Second in the Under 16 girls - and damn proud of it! :D

This is only my second year rowing.

And the Rowing All Irelands are being held nearby me this year so we are definitely competing in that! We've improved so much this year! :cute:

^ Canoeing is kind of uncomfortable I find. Having to lean on your knees and such.

On the topic of rowing, our crew came 2nd at the county championships today. Which means everyone else has high hopes for us in the All Irelands! :cheese:

I'm insane enough to join your guys... one of my friends convinced me to join my university's novice rowing team with her. At the time I didn't quite realize what getting up at 4am five days a week actually felt like. Now I do. I also know what frozen docks feel like, and why pogies are our best friends.

Someone get me a psychatrist. I'm enjoying myself too much.

    ^Oh pogies.

I'm a coxwain. I did row before, however. I miss having calluses large enough to stab on my hands.
The 4am weigh-ins, lightweight women's singles (aka, a joke), having your eight toss you in the freezing lagoon, and the yelling. Oh the yelling.
The bad sexual puns are pretty great too.

    Ahh, rowing.
How I love the early morning practices.
The coaches screaming at you to be better, faster, stronger, even when you're giving it all you have. At least, that's what you think.
Wanting to punch every single one of your crew members in the face.
    Every. Last. One.
    Freezing water.
    Sinking in freezing, polluted water.
Days when it's too windy to row, so you have to run.
    Ergs.
    Those goddamned ergs.

But once you get to regattas...
The togetherness you feel with your teammates.
    The tears.
    The determination.
    The closeness.
    The unbreakable bond.
    That's what rowing is about.

And I've only been doing it a year.

It seems that if you row, you are absolutely obsessed. XD

I don't row, but my friend's sister does, and it seems to take over her life. Shocked The password for her DVD store account is 'rowing' for God's sake. My friend didn't even have to ask her. She just went in and used it, guessing it on the first try. XD

Hey, we definitely need more people commenting on this.
Just thought I'd say that I quit at the beginning of this year, cause life was too crazy.
There's no way I can row and do everything else.. It'd make me go crazy.

...I went back two weeks ago.

I did it for a year and I loved it, but I didn't like the people there, so I quit. I wish I didn't. Dx
