I have long been fascinated by serial murderers and what it is that drives them to kill. I study them constantly and have a vast library of books and personal knowledge on the subject. While I do feel sorry for the victims and I hate that that was the way their lives ended, the lives of their murderers and what made them kill always draws more of my attention.

So I ask: Does anyone here find them intriguing? Or do you find them senseless monsters? (As I do, but again, they interest me.)

I find certain ones intriguing. For instance, Jack the Ripper is the most interesting to me. And on certain days Charles Manson will intrigue me.

I find the psychological anatomy of serial killers to be quite intriguing.

    ^ I'm the same.
I mean, I'm not obsessed and I wouldn't say I find it completely fascinating, but I find it really interesting.
I like reading about them sometimes. But I have to be in a certain mood to want to.

We're learning about abnormal behaviour, like that of serial killers, in Psychology class at the moment.
I find it incredibly interesting to discover how their minds work, their past and why they behave the way they do.
They're obviously individuals that need some kind of help, and I'm not in any way condoning what they do - but you have to admit that some of them have to be pretty intelligent people to commit so many murders and get away with it. Fucked up, but still intelligent.

I like wondering about the reasons why their actions came to be. The affect of experiences on people have always interested me. I am especially interested in what goes on in such a person's mind that is different from a "normal" person, and what it's like to have gone to such an extreme that you can't turn back.

I can't say I have a favorite serial killer, because that sounds sort of sick, but as much as it turns my stomach, I can't help but wonder what goes on in the minds of those like Ed Gein.

I'm just neutral towards the topic. I don't think they were monsters, they were just sick, nothing too intriguing. There's something perverse about being fascinated by someone who's made so many suffer without a reason.

Plus people who seem really into this sort of things remind me American Psycho.

They are so smart and intriguing. But I still find them scary
I mean they do have psychological problems, That's for sure.
But they plan the dead of the victim so well...

Both my Dad and I are completely fascinated by Jack the Ripper.
It's hard to explain why, I just think that the reason they're so famous - is because for example, you've never found anyone who is exactly like them. I think that's why I'm so intrigued by how that person works, and what drove them to be so different from others.

    Agreed.

But I like to study them from a psychological point of view. I'm not interested on how they mutilated their victims, or anything of that gross nature, I'm interested in what drove them to do that. Like with Ted Bundy for instance, I want to know how he could seem so charming and normal but then go on to rape and murder women. Better yet, why did he choose all his victims with such similar looks? You know, stuff like that...

^I would like to meet one (any one) and have a discussion with him/her; which is why I want to become a forensic psychologist. I'm absolutely fascinated by their minds...

I was always interested in why they did what they did.
Not so much as why they committed the murders, but why they used the methods they did.

My Mom owns, like, a million serial killer books. She loves crazy people.

    It's rubbed on to me.

I find it fascinating that serial killers can appear to be charming and intelligent, when really they're remorseless. I love reading about how their mind works, it's so interesting.

I am not obsessed about them but I can spend a good amount of time researching various information about them. I usually like to find out what caused them to kill, how they killed, and how they covered up their evidence. I think that last point intrigues me the most because many serial killers were absolute geniuses. At times, I admire their brilliant insanity because they think of things I would never even think about thinking of. :XD

Seeing as I would love to murder a lot of people but don't have the proverbial balls to do it, i am fascinated by them. And disgusted...

To a certain point, I am quite fascinated by them: what drives them, how does this happen, and such.
But, at the same time, it can't help but sicken me for the reasons stated above as well.

    I think they're fascinating.
My father has an encyclopedia of serial killers that has hundreds of them listed in there, along with a few extra things like tactics, causes, and types of serial killers. I spend a lot of time reading it; I like to do research on them. They're incredibly interesting.
I think the psychological reasons behind becoming a serial killer are especially interesting.
